Appliance-Specific Tips LED / LCD

Gentle Cleaning: Turn off the LED and let it cool down. Use a soft microfiber cloth, like the ones for cleaning eyeglasses. Gently wipe the screen in a circular motion without pressing too hard. For tough spots, slightly dampen the cloth with distilled water. Never spray water or use harsh chemicals directly on the screen.

Positioning Matters: Avoid areas that get direct sunlight or are close to heat sources like heaters etc. as these can make your LED’s internal parts work harder and wear out faster.

Monthly Maintenance: Check for any hidden dust buildup, ensure all connections are secure, and give the entire unit a thorough but gentle cleaning. A little extra care each month can help keep your LED in top shape for the long run.

Picture Perfect: Over time, you should adjust your LED’s picture settings. It’s better to keep optimum brightness, color, and contrast for best picture quality. Most LEDs come with built-in tools to help you with this. If you are not comfortable adjusting these settings manually, look for the “movie” or “cinema” mode in your LED’s settings. These options are usually set up for the best picture quality.

Air Conditioner

Close windows and doors: Always close windows and doors when using an air conditioner to keep the indoor temperature stable.

Keep the set temperature stable: Most of the time people tend to turn on the air conditioner to its most aggressive cooling mode to achieve quick results. However, it is not the most effective way to use your unit. Instead, set your unit at a stable temperature – for example 24°C. This will ensure a constant and comfortable home environment while allowing your air conditioner to maintain a constant temperature without having to go all-out.

However, it is not the most effective way to use your unit. Instead, set your unit at a stable temperature – for example 24°C. This will ensure a constant and comfortable home environment while allowing your air conditioner to maintain a constant temperature without having to go all-out.

Get ahead of the heat: Turn your air conditioner on before the heat hits. This way the unit doesn’t have to work as hard – saving you lots of energy in the long run. Alternatively, use a timer to activate the unit right before you arrive: the perfect way to ensure coming home to the perfect temperature.

Clean the filters: To keep your air conditioner working efficiently and longer, it is important to clean and maintain the filters at least once a year. This way, you can keep the efficiency of the unit at its high level.

Take care of your outdoor unit: The outdoor unit is the heart of the air conditioning system; therefore, it should not be forgotten. Make sure the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed by obstacles or leaves. Have a look at your unit before the start of summer and winter season to ensure its optimal operation.

Refrigerators

Give it space: Most refrigerators require at least one inch of space between the unit and the wall to allow for air flow.

Keep it clean: Refrigerator condenser coils should be vacuumed twice per year to remove hair and lint that would otherwise interfere with the cooling power of the coils.

Save energy: You will get the best energy efficiency from keeping your refrigerator on the temperature settings recommended by the manufacturer. Refrigerators also hold cold better when they are at least half full.

Replace water filters: If you have a water dispenser or ice maker, you need to replace the filter about every six months or as recommended by the manufacturer.

Washing Machine

Use the right detergent: If you have front loading washing machine, you must use detergent meant for that machine. If you try to use regular detergent, it will produce way too many bubbles, which may actually overflow from your machine.

Upgrade your hoses: Plastic or rubber water hoses can become brittle and leak or burst. To avoid this possibility, consider upgrading to braided steel hoses.

Let it dry: To prevent mold or mildew from developing in your washing machine, it is a good idea to leave the door or lid open between cycles. You should also leave the detergent tray open and wipe down the door gasket on you front-load washer between uses.

Check Pockets: To prevent loose items from getting trapped in the workings of your washing machine, always check the pockets in clothes before washing.

Dishwashers

Scrape dishes: While you should not actually have to prewash your dishes before loading the dishwasher, you should scrape them to remove the larger food bits. This will help prevent drain clogs.

Clean the sprayer arm: Over time, sprayer arm holes can get clogged, which will prevent water jets from reaching all your dishes. It is a good idea to clean the sprayer arm every so often to help avoid this problem.

Don’t overload: If you cram too many dishes into the dishwasher, some of them probably won’t get cleaned properly.

Don’t use too much detergent: Using too much detergent can leave spots on your glasses as well as gum up the works with residue.

Microwaves

Exercise caution when heating water: When you put water or a liquid-based substance in a microwave, it can get to boiling temperatures quickly and can become severely hot. When removing the dish, you might want to consider wearing oven mitts that will protect your hands from the hot item.

Confirm that the door shuts tightly: Microwaves need to be working properly for safety reasons. Don’t use this appliance if its turntable rotates and the exhaust fan runs while the door remains open, this is not how it was built to work. If this is the case, replace or identify the problem, or call professional technician to come and take a look at it.

Never place metal items inside of the oven: We all should know this, but it happens to the best of us from time to time. If put in the microwave, aluminum foil could spark a fire, compromise food safety or damage your equipment. The same goes for empty or metal containers.

Only use microwave safe dishes: Check the bottom for the words “microwave safe.” The wrong materials may melt or harm the appliance by reflecting microwave radiation. It is important that what you’re putting in your microwave is safe.

Don’t place sealed containers in the oven: They could inflict damage or injuries by exploding. Keep in mind that this can also happen if you cook certain foods without removing the lids.

Never activate this appliance when it’s empty: If you run your microwave with nothing in it, it might destroy the unit’s magnetron or start a fire. Unlike conventional and toaster ovens, a microwave oven never needs to be preheated before cooking, but it always needs some food substance to maintain safety.
